In late 2018, Mazda unveiled the redesigned 2019 Mazda3 sedan and hatchback models at the Los Angeles Auto Show. These two new models represent an evolution in Mazda’s world-famous KODO Soul of Motion design philosophy.
Each model gets its own unique design direction. For the hatchback, Mazda’s goal was to provide a “fresh expression of hatchback styling [by] creating a solid mass with a seductive appeal.” The hatchback also gets a new exterior color option: Polymetal Gray. For the sedan, on the other hand, Mazda went for “sleek and elegant.” Both the sedan and the hatchback also get a revised lamp design.
The interior of the 2019 Mazda3 sees even more updates, especially where tech is concerned. The Mazda Connect system and its 8.8-inch screen now boast a Digital Owner’s Manual, and the speaker layout for the audio system has been redesigned for a better audio experience. The standard system has eight speakers, but if you upgrade to the Bose® system, it grows to 12 inches.
The 2019 Mazda3’s interior also gets a new Greige (gray and beige) fabric color, and the hatchback specifically gets a new Burgundy interior color.
Under the hood of the new Mazda3, you can go with one of three gas engines: a 1.5-liter, a 2.0-liter, or a 2.5-liter, all with SKYACTIV®-G technology, which enhances fuel economy and offers sporty driving dynamics. The Mazda3 is also available with a diesel engine for 2019: the SKYACTIV®-D 1.8-liter. Finally, the Mazda3 is available with Mazda’s first M Hybrid System with the SKYACTIV®-X engine.
