In late 2018, Mazda unveiled the redesigned 2019 Mazda3 sedan and hatchback models at the Los Angeles Auto Show. These two new models represent an evolution in Mazda’s world-famous KODO Soul of Motion design philosophy.
Each model gets its own unique design direction. For the hatchback, Mazda’s goal was to provide a “fresh expression of hatchback styling [by] creating a solid mass with a seductive appeal.” The hatchback also gets a new exterior color option: Polymetal Gray. For the sedan, on the other hand, Mazda went for “sleek and elegant.” Both the sedan and the hatchback also get a revised lamp design.
Regardless of the configuration, the Mazda3 is famous for its plethora of innovative technologies. You can test drive the 2019 Mazda at Bert Ogden Edinburg Mazda—but first, check out more details on some of its best entertainment and safety technologies below.
The interior of the 2019 Mazda3 sees even more updates, especially where tech is concerned. The Mazda Connect system and its 8.8-inch screen now boast a Digital Owner’s Manual, and the speaker layout for the audio system has been redesigned for a better audio experience. The standard system has eight speakers, but if you upgrade to the Bose® system, it grows to 12 speakers.
The Mazda3 boasts the intuitive Mazda Connect™ Infotainment System to keep you connected safely on the go. You can easily operate the system to access your favorite apps for music, navigation, and messaging using the multifunction Commander control in the center console — which is much safer than using a touch-screen. This system is available with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ integration. Everything is delivered via the new 8.8-inch wide center screen display.
The 2019 Mazda3’s interior also gets a new Greige (gray and beige) fabric color, and the hatchback specifically gets a new Burgundy interior color.
Under the hood of the new Mazda3, you can go with one of three gas engines: a 1.5-liter, a 2.0-liter, or a 2.5-liter, all with SKYACTIV®-G technology, which enhances fuel economy and offers sporty driving dynamics. The Mazda3 is also available with a diesel engine for 2019: the SKYACTIV®-D 1.8-liter. Finally, the Mazda3 is available with Mazda’s first M Hybrid System with the SKYACTIV®-X engine.
Safety is one of Mazda’s top priorities. That’s why the 2019 Mazda3 gets a new knee airbag and is available with a wide range of active safety features.
- Available Blind Spot Monitoring detects other vehicles that you can’t see in your blind spot
- Available Rear Cross Traffic Alert can sense vehicles approaching from the side when you are backing up
- Available Adaptive Front-Lighting System helps you see around corners during nighttime driving
- Available Driver Attention Alert can sense when you are no longer paying proper attention to the road (and regain your attention)
