2020 Mazda CX-30 vs. 2020 Lexus UX | Bert Ogden Mazda Edinburg | Edinburg, TX

Small crossovers and SUVs continue to grow in popularity because of their blend of performance and efficiency, range of innovative safety technologies, and spacious and versatile interiors packed with convenience and comfort features that set such SUVs apart. Two of the industry’s leading small SUVs are the 2020 Mazda CX-30 and the 2020 Lexus UX. But how does the Mazda CX-30 stack up against a luxury model like the Lexus UX? Remarkably well, in fact.

Price

The biggest drawback to buying a luxury SUV is the cost. As a mass-market vehicle, the 2020 CX-30 is significantly cheaper than the 2020 UX, but it is just as luxurious in its design and features. The new Mazda CX-30 equipped with the Premium Package starts nearly $3,000 less than the new Lexus UX.*

Performance

Despite the lower starting price, the 2020 Mazda CX-30 is more powerful. Its SKYACTIV®-G 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with variable valve timing cranks out a best-in-class 186 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque. The 2020 Lexus UX only manages 169 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque from its standard engine.

Interior Space

The new Mazda CX-30 is also more spacious than the Lexus UX. In the CX-30, you will get 37.8 inches of front headroom, 36.3 inches of rear legroom, and 55.6 inches of front shoulder room; in the UX, those dimensions decrease to 37.2 (35.7 with moonroof), 33.1, and 55.0 inches, respectively. In addition, you get more cargo space in the 2020 Mazda CX-30 — up to 45.2 cubic feet of volume, compared to the 21.7 cubic feet in the 2020 UX.

Infotainment

The MAZDA CONNECT™ Infotainment System comes with a standard 8.8-inch large center display on the 2020 CX-30 model. The infotainment system in the 2020 UX gets a standard 7.0-inch display. Further, the system from Mazda includes the multifunction Commander rotary control, which is safer than the touch-screen operation included on the Lexus model.
