The 46th Tokyo Motor Show kicked off on Oct. 23 with a major announcement from Mazda. In addition to introducing a brand-new compact crossover SUV model, the automaker has also confirmed that it will be introducing an electric powertrain. In the interest of efficiency, our manufacturing partner dropped both pieces of important information at the same time when they pulled back the curtain on the new Mazda MX-30? So, what is the Mazda MX-30? In short, it is a compact crossover SUV with a brand-new plug-in hybrid power plant that also features very distinctive rear doors. At the beginning of the month, we brought some wishful thinking that bordered on speculation about a potentially high-performing engine that could appear in new Mazda vehicles. More recently, we came across another article that shed a bit more light on what could be seen at the Tokyo Motor Show, which opens for business in about a week. Is Mazda going to make an electric vehicle?

There are a lot of changes coming to the Mazda lineup of engines. We’ve already covered the automaker’s coming diesel engine, but they aren’t done by any means. So, is Mazda going to make an electric vehicle? We can’t confirm anything definitively, but all signs appear to be pointing in that direction. An article we came across in the course of looking something up for a customer really piqued our interest. It was written by Fred Lambert for electrek.com and the story contains some spy shots of a redesigned Mazda crossover SUV being tested in Europe and supposedly is powered by an electric motor. When is the 2019 Mazda MX-5 Miata going on sale?

It’s been a while since we’ve had any new information about the newest version of the Mazda MX-5 Miata. When our manufacturing partner announced they were kicking off the 2019 model year, they went the extra mile to honor the convertible’s third decade in production with a special anniversary edition. Those limited-number models have begun to ship to customers who were quick to reserve one of the 3,000 30th Anniversary Edition Mazda MX-5 Miata vehicles. This announcement has led us to wonder out loud, ‘When is the 2019 Mazda Miata MX-5 Miata going on sale?’ Unfortunately, we still don’t have a firm date, but the timing of these vehicle deliveries leads us to believe that we won’t have to wait much longer. Is the Mazda2 coming to the United States?

The modern automotive industry would almost be unrecognizable to the people who launched it more than a century ago. Back then territories were fiercely defended. While there is still a veritable arms race going on among the world’s automakers, companies are more prone to reach out to a competitor when both entities will benefit. This is the case with Mazda and Toyota. In fact, the two manufacturers have formed a joint company and have opened a plant in Alabama that will produce vehicles wearing both companies’ badges. This is all a way to ask the question, ‘Is the Mazda2 coming to the United States?’ The answer is more complicated than just the fact that this would mean Mazda is introducing an entirely new platform because it’s already here – kind of.
