The 2018 Honda Civic is available to drivers across five trim levels. The 2018 Mazda3 simplifies its lineup with three trims, and a long list of features in each one. The base trim of the Civic, the LX, comes standard with a manual transmission. Drivers unfamiliar with driving stick shift will need to upgrade or pay extra for Honda's continuously variable transmission. Another point worth noting is the size of the Civic's gas tank. The 2018 Honda Civic's gas tank can only hold 12.4 gallons of fuel, meaning more frequent stops at the gas station than the 2018 Mazda3.

There are three trim levels available for the Mazda3. They are the Sport, Touring, and Grand Touring. Each trim level comes standard with a 2.0-liter SKYACTIV®-G engine that produces 155 horsepower and 150 pound-feet of torque. Drivers wanting more power can opt for the top two trims, and get a  2.5-liter SKYACTIV®-G engine that delivers 184 horsepower and 185 pound-feet of torque. All trims feature standard features including MAZDA CONNECT™ Infotainment System with a 7-inch full-color touchscreen display, Pandora internet radio integration, Push Button Start, remote keyless entry, a rearview camera, and Smart City Brake Support.
