At this point in 21st-century vehicle development, the ability to connect to outside devices is more than just a frivolous feature. Both the 2019 Mazda CX-9 and 2020 Kia Telluride have smartphone-compatible infotainment systems that will easily integrate the Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ suites of applications into a driver’s daily commute. Among the key differences between the systems offered in each crossover SUV is how a person interacts with them. Mazda has equipped the 2019 Mazda CX-9 with a dial-based interface that is very similar in functionality to what is found on much more expensive European-built vehicles. In terms of passenger space, the current Mazda CX-9 and 2020 Telluride are very evenly matched, though the new Kia vehicle does offer room for up to one more passenger.

Every available 2019 Mazda CX-9 trim grade available at Bert Ogden Mazda in Edinburgh employs the same powertrain. Under the hood of the three-row crossover SUV is a turbocharged version of the SKYACTIV®-G 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine mated to the SKYACTIV®-Drive six-speed automatic transmission. It will make 227 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque when using regular grade gasoline. However, the performance output can be pushed up to 250 horsepower when a driver chooses premium grade gas. The 2020 Kia Telluride does use a naturally aspirated V-6 engine that will make more power than the 2019 Mazda CX-9.
Kia owners will pay more to fill their tanks than those who take Mazda crossover SUV home. The 2019 Mazda CX-9 can record up to 22 miles per gallon in the city and 28 miles per gallon on the highway when equipped with front-wheel-drive. On the other hand, the 2020 Telluride will achieve just 20 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. Over the course of a vehicle’s lifecycle, this can be quite a difference.
