The Mazda Vision Coupe concept vehicle has been around for a while. But Wright’s article intimates that this could actually be the basis for a high-performance Mazda sports car. Naturally, Wright also made sure to create some separation between this new rumor and the continuous speculation of the automaker reviving its rotary engine platform. However, that may still be coming should Mazda ever get into the hybrid market.
How much power will it make?
Before we get into purported performance specifications, it’s important to note that this is just a guess by an experienced automotive journalist. Nothing about a potential high-performance Mazda sedan is confirmed in any way. But according to the information that Wright published in his article, the four-door Mazda sedan will make something in the area of 355 horsepower. That would put it the same league as other competitors from Kia and Toyota.

If Wright’s information is accurate, Mazda could be set to pull the curtain back on its new high-performance sedan in the next few months. Coincidentally, the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show starts in November. Just something to think about.
